She’s not following trends.
Kylie Kelce said she is “vehemently” against a certain parenting trend when it comes to raising her daughters with husband Jason Kelce.
“I am vehemently against the idea of other kids getting birthday presents on a child’s birthday,” Kylie, who shares daughters Wyatt, 5, Elliotte, 3, and Bennett, 2, with the former NFL star, said on her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast on Feb. 20.
“Our family knows, no one else is receiving a birthday present for Bennett’s birthday. Everyone gets a special day,” she added.
Kylie, who is currently pregnant with the couple’s fourth daughter, said gifts should only be given to the person who is celebrating their special day.
“When your siblings get presents for your birthday, it reduces your birthday. It’s not their birthday. It’s your birthday,” she continued.
“I think it teaches them to a degree that just because someone’s getting presents doesn’t mean you get presents. It feels very participation trophy-esque and not happening.”
Kylie, 32, also said she wasn’t keen on throwing over-the-top parties for babies.
“I am not a big fan of big birthdays for babies,” she shared on her podcast.
“I feel like it’s just making more work for ourselves. I would much rather get a cake and give them a piece and then just let them go in on it, which is exactly what we’ve done.”
The former hockey player said she and Jason, 37, have decorated or purchased cakes catered to the “specifications of the birthday girl” for their kids.
“We will scroll Pinterest and Google search to see some birthday cakes for kids’ birthdays, and then we order it,” she said.
“I think it’s very special for them to get to show all of the people who come to celebrate their birthday that they got to pick their cake and how excited they are for it.”
Kylie announced she was pregnant with her fourth girl in November 2024 by sharing a photo of her three daughters wearing matching “Big Sister” sweaters.
In the photo, each girl had a different response to the baby news, with Wyatt covering her ears, Elliotte smiling and Bennett in tears.
While Jason is excited to become a dad of four, he revealed during his appearance on TNT’s “Steam Room” that he may be getting a vasectomy after the baby is born.
“We’ve brought it up. I don’t know if it’s going to happen or not. But, I think we’ll see,” the former Philadelphia Eagles player said, adding that their fourth daughter “might be it.”
